Wedding Hair and Makeup/

Last summer we had the pleasure of meeting Amber and helping her and all her girls look fantastic on the wedding. It was beautifully coordinated by Sophia of Les Belles Affaires and we received the amazing photos from Visual Masterpiece. And of course with Design Visage stylist Georgia, Amber had a great team.

Wedding Make up: Amber chose a clean eyeshadow with creams and charcoal and thin black gel liner and loads of lashes. DV Georgia topped off the look with a soft pink blush and ice pink lips. With Amber’s dark hair it was a hit.

Wedding Hairstyle: Amber went with the sexy down do with one day extensions to add body and fullness to the total look. DV Georgia curled the extensions with a flat iron to give a natural beach curl. She then set Amber’s hair and let it cool to have her hair maintain the curl. The extensions were then clipped into Amber’s hairline, Georgia ran her hands through both the extensions and natural hair, and poof an amazing natural sexy down hairstyle that will last all day

Hair jewels are carefully secured and Amber is ready for one of the best days of her life

And I believe they had a great day.

Wedding Day Makeover TLC/Triple Cord Photography/Wedding 4 Africa

When I heard that Glenda was approved by TLC’s Wedding Day Makeover, I was so excited. When we started filming Wedding Day Makeover in April, I knew that I wanted to have this wedding on our show. Some time ago the incredible Annette Biggers of Triple Cord Photography organized Wedding 4 Africa. Design Visage was honored to participate in this amazing idea. This couple Glenda and Michael raised money for the children of Africa, and we the wedding vendors, donated our services for the wedding. The list of vendors that participated in this wedding were some of the best in the industry, and most importantly, people who came together for a larger purpose.

On to the wedding, a one of a kind fairy tale affair. Just take a look:

Glenda’s bridal hair:

Design Visage Lauren was Glenda’s stylist, and as always Lauren rocked the look. This updated Renaissence hairstyle with the beachy curl)

  • Lauren curled Glenda’s hair with a flat iron (which gives a natural beach curls) then added extensions for length
  • Lastly Lauren pulled in the Renaissance look with a few braids.

Bridal Makeup:

  • Lauren started with a smoky eye with eye liner around Glenda’s entire eye
  • Gold was applied on the lid
  • Lauren darkened Glenda’s brows with a brow shader two shades darker than her hair
  • Loads of lashes were created with two rows of individual lashes
  • A light lip and soft blush topped off the wedding makeup

Barnet Photography/Ritz Carlton Dana Point/Wedding Hair and Make-up

What can I say about Alpha that you will not see immediately. She is absolutely gorgeous.


Jen was Alpha’s Design Visage artist and they spent several hours prior to the wedding trying at least 10 ten different hairstyles. The challenge for Alpha is that every style looked amazing. She also tried many different types of styles. In the end a classic bridal hairstyle and makeup was chosen and Jen returned after the ceremony to let Alpha’s lovely locks down and restyle her hair into a fun down bridal hairstyle.

Joe and Mirta Barnet, as always, recreated the day with the most fantastic photography. Alpha looks even better behind their camera! The setting was the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point, one of our favorite locations, and exquisitely organized by the talented Gail Garseau. When you have a team like this , you cannot go wrong.

The tea ceremony is such a lovely part of some of the Asian cultures.

Pink is back. You are going to see lots of pink in 2011, as well as lips and cheeks.

Alpha utilized Design Visage’s rent a headpiece and borrow a veil program. You can see this headpiece on Bridalmode.

Bridal Hairstyle: Jen used a 1 1/2 inch barrel curling iron and set Alpha’s hair. This was for the volume and gave Jen the ability style her hair with big ribbon curls. The front and sides were pulled back to show the ribbon headband. You have to have a beautiful face to be able to have the hair all off the face.

Bridal makeup: Jen wanted to enhance Alpha’s already perfect skin by adding a fresh dewy glow with mineral makeup. Jen used a peachy pink on the cheeks with a smoky eye using earth tones along with pinks highlighting inner corner of the eye and brow bone, which opens the eye area and adds a glow. Lips were a nude pouty pink. Topped with a sheer pink gloss.


Alpha looks like a princess here.

Wedding Day Makeover/TLC/Design Visage

I met Veronica over the phone and it was love at first word. She is in one word fantastic. We had to wait a long time for the approval for her wedding on Wedding Day Makeover on TLC. When it arrived with a yes we will all elated, then the news that her wedding location would not allow a TV camera crew. A set back, but nothing is too big for Veronica. She has this strong but sweet character and before you could say no, it was a yes and we were off on a roll.

I finally  met Veronica and Brian in person at my house a few months back. They live in San Diego and needed a place for Film Garden to shoot their love story. The pretty backyard with the fireplace is mine! And the guitar that Brian is playing to serenade Veronica is my husbands. Brian and Veronica are a joy to be with.

Missy was Veronica’s Design Visage stylist and they hit it off immediately. Its kinda hard not to like Missy. The preview at the Design Visage salon lasted more than 4 hours. You will recall Veronica, her 2 sisters and her mom, all had quite a different idea for Veronica’s wedding hair and make-up. The 4 V’s had the entire crew laughing for hours. They really could not agree on a look. Ultimately it was Veronica’s choice, although she was trying to make everyone happy.

The decision: a new wave 40′s style side do combined with an updated 40′s bridal makeup. Awesome……

On the wedding day the Design Visage had the pleasure of beautifying all the bridesmaids and moms

One of the most touching parts of Veronica’s wedding; she had recently lost her father. All the girls including mom were so sad that this most important man would not be able to give his daughter away to the man she was to marry. Veronica’s fathers favorite flower was the sunflower. A large sunflower was in her bouquet as the simple of her father with her the entire day. It was wonderful.

I must day Scarlett Lillian’s photos are simple perfect.

We at Design Visage do not get to see these moments on the wedding day, we beautify and off to another bride, so it is so special to see the tender moments. Scarlett Lillian has some amazing talent.

Platinum Weddings by Kerrie/Ritz Carlton Dana Point/ Wedding Hair and Make-up

When Sarv called, I new immediately that Design Visage would have to be on the game.  She was a no muss no fuss kind of girl and knew exactly want she wanted, although was looking for just the right stylist to help her achieve her “look”.  Sarv arrived for her preview, computer in hand and power point presentation ready for Lauren. A few hours later Lauren and Sarv were good friends and most importantly Sarv looked stunning.

Sarv chose a classic wedding hairstyle. A swoop bang with very clean smooth updo. Since she is a classic beauty, I do believe she made the right choice.  Sarv’s dress and earring were so sparkly, she decided to add the bling to the back of the hairstyle.

Kerrie from Platinum Weddings by Kerrie definitely did just that, a “Platinum Wedding it was” .  The Ritz Carlton Dana Point was the setting.

For Sarv’s wedding makeup,  Design Visage Lauren did a classic eye, a warm contour pink highlights and lots of lashes.

Yes I believe stunning is the word to describe Sarv on her wedding day.

I love this part of a Persian Wedding, the honey exchange. From what I understand it is a symbol of starting your new life sweet. Let me know if I am wrong, or if there is more to it.
