Renewing the Vows

Heika Mader came to the salon for her hair and make-up preview. She found Design Visage on the Ritz Carlton Dana Point referral list. She has been married for 5 years, but they never had a reception…..so to the Ritz it is!

This is the inspiration picture for Heike’s hairstyle. She had her eyebrows tinted prior to the preview by our Esthetitician Adreinne. This is a fantastic service for we light hair girls….wake up with eyebrows. The dress Heike will be wearing is a sleek gold gown, so she was looking for more of an evening look. Her artist did a simple french twist with her pretty blond hair. Make-up was a dramatic liner with shimmery gold lids and cheeks. Topped off with a natural lip tone lipstick and gloss…… look how it makes her beautiful blue eyes pop…….so sexy.

WOW dosen’t Heika look great. Here you will see the french twist adorned with a beautiful comb of gold, silver and pearl from our own Bridalmode. Can’t wait to see the event…..we will post the pictures.

Jenny and Bryan

Jenny came into our office without much hope. She had already gone to 3 other previews and had not been happy. Which is so foreign to Design Visage, we work with the bride on the preview until she is happy…well I guess that is why so few brides cancel after our preview. So Jenny saw a picture of a bride we had done on the Knot, and decided to give us a try.

On the preview the artist and Jenny tried a few different hairstyles. All up, all down and the final winner half up and half down. Just like trying on different styles of dresses, it is important to try your hair up and down to see what it best on you and how you want to see yourself in the pictures on your wall for the next 20 years. Many brides ask if it is necessary to have a preview, I suppose to save money. Well it is certainly possible, but to me a bit crazy. A wedding day is not the time to be deciding how you want your hair and make-up!

Jenny and Bryan were married at the beautiful Sherman Gardens in Corona del Mar. Their photographer was Eric Slay. And most importantly, a few months after the wedding, Jenny came to Design Visage for a facial. We started talking and Design Visage hired Jenny to do our accessories site Bridalmode. Jenny is very talented and with much patience taught me much about technology. Check her out at Well-United ….I highly recommend her company. Thanks Jenny for letting Design Visage be a part of your wedding.

Carlo and Anna

Interesting how I met Carlo. A few years ago I went to Kenny the Printer to have a project printed. They were so rude to me that I left immediately. I walked out the door and thought what now, I need this asap. I looked across the street and saw Avanti Printing. I walked in the door and there was Carlo. So sweet, professional, and accommodating. This started a nice business relationship. Last year when Carlo told me he was going to propose to Anna (had not met her yet) I was thrilled. And even more honored when he asked Design Visage to make his Anna look beautiful on their wedding day. So here is how the story went. Now remember this is according to Carlo, so Anna if you have another version, just make a comment to set the record straight.

Anna was a good friend of Carlo’s twin sisters.  They would always tell him to ask her out. Carlo felt a little funny since Anna was such a good friend of his sisters. Carlo’s whole family knew Anna and suggested he pursue her. A couple years ago Anna came to Carlo’s birthday party. Carlo’s step-mom told him that Anna was following him around the room with her eyes. So he tested it…and it was true!

After some time passed, he saw her with his sisters, Carlo realized that Anna was an amazing girl and possessed all the qualities that he was looking for in a life partner and wife. They could not resist their destiny, started dating, and were married 1 year later.

Have you ever met a couple that you just knew would be together forever. That is how I feel about Carlo and Anna. When Anna came to Design Visage for her hair and make-up preview, it was apparent what Carlo saw in her. Anna is one of the most beautiful girls you will ever meet. Although I am not just talking about the physical appearance. Anna has a beautiful soul that she carries on the outside. Carlo and Anna have a true faith that will be a strong part of their life together.

Anna’s make-up was very light, natural browns and soft cheeks and lips. Her hair was a loose low style updo, very feminine.

I would like to thank their photographer Jacob Bongiovanni for all photos.

Some of my favorite pics

Today I am going to share a collection of some of my favorite pictures, for all different reasons. As you will see, I do not choose the obvious hair and make-up pictures. I feel you want to see a feeling, a moment, a sensation. This is what I like so I hope you do to. If you want to see something else, just comment.

Just look at the beautiful skin these 2 ladies have, accented with smoky grey eye shadow and just a gloss on the lips..perfect.

This new photography style of “trash the dress” is so fun. The brides hair and make-up is much more casual than on the day of the wedding. Just a very natural look.

Photography has changed more than any other service, not just in technology but in style. With photojournalism and even one step further the model bride look.

Is this great? I remember when brides asked us if we could cover their tattoo with make-up. Now it is part of the design of the dress. Look at the eye-shadow, have to have a dominate color when you have a personal style like this.

When you are going to wear red lips on your wedding…make it about the lips. The entire make-up is subtle with a perfect red lip. The hair is pulled off the face. So classic.

These are a few of my favorite pics…I have many. Every once in a while I will share a few, enjoy.
