My favorite memory of Sayeste: Sayeste had reserved her wedding with Design Visage.  I called her at work and explained that Design Visage had a new show on TLC called Wedding Day Makeover and if she would like to audition for the show.  She immediately said “YES” and I told her I would pass the information on to our production company. One minute later the phone rang, it was Sayeste, she asked me “Did you just ask me to be on a wedding show on TLC?”  I replied “Yes” and she said ” I thought so, but I wanted to make sure I was not dreaming!!”.

From that moment on….I was crossing my fingers that TLC would choose Sayeste to participate in Wedding Day Makeover. It came back as a “No” at first, why, because she was too pretty and they thought she would not be a good “makeover”. We encouraged, and finally a “YES”. I was soooo excited.

Design Visage Susie had a terrific time  ”making up” Sayeste.  She chose an elegant smoky eye and long red carpet locks.

Our friend and fantastic photographer Frank Salas was the photographer for the day. He was such a sport to work around all the film crew and still come up with these amazing shots.

Design Visage Susie did a hot makeup application on Sayeste. The thick liner with a bronze lid and lashes, lashes were the bridal makeup style.

Bridal hairstyle for Sayeste: Susie curled all her hair with a one and a half inch iron and let it set. After the hair was let down, Susie added extensions that were already curled. Susie ran her fingers through Sayeste’s hair to give it the loose sexy curl, and then loosely took each side up and gently pined it back. The result is a bridal hairstyle for the red carpet. Lots of spray to keep in place, keeping in mind to use a professional working spray that holds but does not leave the hair stiff.

Lisa Simpson was the pro that organized the day and kept it all running smoothly, like always. And the Hilton in Huntington Beach was amazing with all the details.

I know Sayeste felt like a movie star, she sure looked like one.

Barnet Photography/Ritz Carlton Dana Point/Wedding Hair and Make-up

What can I say about Alpha that you will not see immediately. She is absolutely gorgeous.

Jen was Alpha’s Design Visage artist and they spent several hours prior to the wedding trying at least 10 ten different hairstyles. The challenge for Alpha is that every style looked amazing. She also tried many different types of styles. In the end a classic bridal hairstyle and makeup was chosen and Jen returned after the ceremony to let Alpha’s lovely locks down and restyle her hair into a fun down bridal hairstyle.

Joe and Mirta Barnet, as always, recreated the day with the most fantastic photography. Alpha looks even better behind their camera! The setting was the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point, one of our favorite locations, and exquisitely organized by the talented Gail Garseau. When you have a team like this , you cannot go wrong.

The tea ceremony is such a lovely part of some of the Asian cultures.

Pink is back. You are going to see lots of pink in 2011, as well as lips and cheeks.

Alpha utilized Design Visage’s rent a headpiece and borrow a veil program. You can see this headpiece on Bridalmode.

Bridal Hairstyle: Jen used a 1 1/2 inch barrel curling iron and set Alpha’s hair. This was for the volume and gave Jen the ability style her hair with big ribbon curls. The front and sides were pulled back to show the ribbon headband. You have to have a beautiful face to be able to have the hair all off the face.

Bridal makeup: Jen wanted to enhance Alpha’s already perfect skin by adding a fresh dewy glow with mineral makeup. Jen used a peachy pink on the cheeks with a smoky eye using earth tones along with pinks highlighting inner corner of the eye and brow bone, which opens the eye area and adds a glow. Lips were a nude pouty pink. Topped with a sheer pink gloss.

Alpha looks like a princess here.

Thanks Alpha for letting Design Visage make you look like the princess you are……….

Wedding Day Makeover/TLC/Design Visage

We received some photos of the production of our new reality show Wedding Day Makeover on TLC weekdays at 11:30 and 5:30.

It was fun to see how they film reality shows and to be a part of the action. TLC’s Wedding Day Makeover filmed 50 brides for 25 episodes. Design Visage is proud to have been chosen to beautify 21 of the brides. All the DV stylists worked hard to make this happen. I want to especially thank Missy Garland, Susie Holloway, Dana Thompson and Lauren Hendrix for the long hours.

Take a look at a few behind the scean photos:

You can see Missy working with TV bride Meg. Georgia and Becky are setting the bridemaids hair. You will remember Meg as the cute bride that hated her freckles. Missy’s magic made Meg smile.

This is Jetta one of my favorite episodes. Jetta is a Harley riding  proclaimed tomboy. She was so uncomfortable wearing makeup and having her hair styled. You can see her face cringe on the show. BUT when she saw what Design Visage stylist Susie did, she cried. I mean she actually sobbed. It was touching and Jetta made all of us tear up, even the film crew. On the wedding day, Susie and Missy showed up in western attire. Susie said “I just could not show up to Jetta’s wedding looking like a hollywood makeup artist” Jetta was touched that the Design Visage girls thought of her comfort. It made for one fun wedding and a great Wedding Day Makeover show.

Design Visage artist Missy with TV bride Veronica. I just loved Veronica and her family. You will remember her sisters and Mom had some strong opinions about Veronica’s hair and make-up. The wedding Design Visage sent 5 stylists to beautify all the bridesmaids, moms and friends. This was a fun day.

Keep watching the Design Visage Stylists on TLC’s Wedding Day Makeover and check back for more behind the scene details.

Wedding Day Makeover/TLC/Design Visage

Finally after months of filming, Design Visage is proud to announce our new reality show on TLC.

Wedding Day Makeover airs weekdays at 11:30 and 5:30 and the Design Visage stylists made over 21 of the 50 brides you will see over the 1st season.

 The Show
Wedding Day Makeover shows how naturally beautiful brides-to-be leap out of their everyday looks and into something extraordinary for their most special day. Each bride with their closest confidants and personal hair and make-up stylists will devise a plan to “wow!” the man of their dreams on their wedding day with a look that is beautiful, elegant, and exceptionally out of the ordinary.
Some brides have a look that they have dreamed of since they were children, some brides’ family has an idea that they think is right for her, and others are looking for creative inspiration from the stylists, but they all put their thinking caps on to tackle the task of a lifetime.
With just a few sweeps of a blush brush and curling iron, these brides are able to see themselves in a different light and get the confidence to feel like the most beautiful woman in the room at their wedding.

Every bride has chaotic wedding-day events, and Wedding Day Makeover helps them to have one less stress, because with the stylist teams pre-wedding consultation, each bride knows what she will be transformed into on the big day.

Check back for more info on Wedding Day Makeover on TLC, and tune in weekdays at 11:30 and 5:30 to see the Design Visage stylists in action.
