DV Favorite Things

Typically we use only professional makeup products. Although a few months back one of our stylists Georgia told me about Elf products. Eyes, Lips and Face. She was raving about the strip lashes. They are $1.00 each and let me tell you they are pretty fantastic. Compared to a set of Mac lashes at $15.00 and above, you can save quite a bit. I do have to say they are a one time use lash. I went online to see the Elf products and had a terrific time spending $50.00 to get my free shipping. When my package arrived it was like Christmas, full of toys. How could this be a good product if it is so cheap. So the Design Visage artists put it to the test. Gotta say many of the Elf products pass the test.

The mineral powder booster: favorite color shimmer. Compares to top minerals, for a whole lot less dough

Strip lashes, there wonderful. Toss the glue and use a professional one.

Fantastic Hair Decor

We had a great time with this photo shoot. The wonder Steve from Forever Photography was behind the camera, and the lovely Lauren was the talent in front of the camera…..by the way she also did the hair and make-up!! Some great bridal make-up and wedding hairstyles….but check out this great hair fun.

The birdcage veils are such the fashion and so very fun.

The colored veiling and broach is one of my favorite looks…you can find all this on Bridalmode..and many more. Design Visage also has the entire line in our Newport Beach Salon.

Next we see the feathers…..fantastic for bridesmaids, brides and you can wear it again….cute with jeans

Morning after pictures….really..

This was the first time I had ever heard about morning after pictures…..yes after the big day and night, photographer returns in the morning to your hotel room….sans make-up and takes photos. Sounds horrible. But look at these photos…..I LOVE IT. Bravo to Jacob Galleries for the idea. Maybe not for everyone, although for these two, an amazing beautiful story.

Sarah and Daniel were married at the Montage Resort last year. Sarah’s family were due to fly in from the east coast for the festivities. Then a huge storm and all flights were canceled. What to do…..can you imagine the decision….go on with the wedding without your family…postpone the wedding…just a day prior. Well with some long phone conversations Sarah’s family gave her their blessing and she did walk down the isle and marry Daniel. They are such a beautiful couple and we wish them a lifetime of happy days and warm moments.

Happiness is where we find it, but rarely where we seek it.

Hair Hair Everywhere..Body Waxing 101

Today lets talk a bit about hair….no not bridal hair, but body hair. Yes the fashion is to be a hairless chihuahua. If this congers up the memory of the chest wax in the 40 year old virgin, set your mind at ease…there are alternatives.

One of the alternatives to extreme pain it…NO SCREAM CREAM…yes it works. Invented by a woman who worked for a dentist. She was bright enough to think of a topical numbing product. Good ideas are all around us, find a need a fill it. So although I will admit it is not a miracle cream, it certainly makes an unpleasant sensation very tolerable. Now I know many of you brides are very body hair savvy and probable know more than me. Today is for the average joe, which is the most of us. And lets face it most of you are afraid to ask anyway. So lets jump in and discuss the jargon. It will vary from salon to salon

Bikini wax= the sides of the legs into the crotch area and top of the stomach if needed.

Brazilian= a landing strip

Honeymooner= all gone

Do not forgo this important service prior to the wedding, just grab your NO SCREAM CREAM and make your choice.

Ok that’s done, we can discuss the rest of the body….

Underarms….just do it..that’s all I can say. Let it grow about a 1/4 inch and come on in. You will not believe how fantastic it is to have baby soft underarms and not have to shave for a while…..each one of us will last a different amount of time. But here is the great thing ladies, when it starts to regrow….NO STUBBLE….just soft, a honeymoon must.

Eyebrows: This is sooooo important to your wedding day make-up. Eyeshadow does not look good on top of fuzz. Start the shaping process asap. And most importantly DO NOT.. I REPEAT DO NOT wax your brow the day of your wedding, or even the day before. You just never know when you will puff up and get red. And one thing many are not aware of, when you wax the brow area, it strips the top layer of your skin. Eyeshadow will not adhere to it. Your body needs a day to recover the skin.

Arms: If you have dark hair or lots of light hair…..get rid of it. If you choose to do it only for the wedding and honeymoon, no problem, just let it grow. And as in the underarms…it will grow in very soft.

Legs: Personal opinion….not worth it. Hurts like %%%%, and due to the fact that your hair growth has 3 cycles, the day after the pain you could feel stubble. The legs are a commitment. You come every 3 weeks and after time, different for all, the hair will diminish and will grow in softer. It really works, although not if it is just for the wedding/honeymoon….steal his razor for the closet shave.

Feet: do I even have to advise you on this…..wax it off

We were so excited when 2 friends came by today to introduce their new business. It is always refreshing to see the excitement in a new endeavor. Hayden and Sophia have begun the new Laurel Nicola event coordination. We have worked with both Hayden and Sophia for many of our bridal events. They both worked for Kevin Covey Parties. Now along with Kevin’s blessing they are beginning a new chapter. You might remember our blog a few months back regarding Sophia’s wedding. So what makes this new business unique? I was looking over their menu of services and along with the actual coordination of weddings I was delighted to see some fun new options. As a bride your services includes a custom health and fitness plan, which includes a yoga lesson from Sofia who is a certified Yogi. Or for the A type bride a month long fitness camp..along with spin and yoga classes…..do you have to be a bride? Sounds like something I could use.
