I really appriciate brides who think outside the box…maybe because I as well did not do the traditional. I met this “to die for” man in Italy when I was studying there many years ago. We had so much in common. Most importantly we both agreed on the importance of a commited relationship, although did not want to marry. Well as life has it, after he was here for 2 years…we could not longer dodge immigration. The attorney said marry by April 15th or he becomes an illegal~!!! wow so we did not even talk about it for a few months…well April came around and to spare all the details….we went to Las Vegas…I wore a black dress ( very stunning) and we did it all alone…we did not even tell our friends or family….he suggested the drive through Elvis ceremony, but I did draw the line there…..so here we are 12 years later…..happy, married…..without even 1 photo of the day. O yes we did confess to our families 5 years after the day!

I remember years ago, more than 20 when a bride had a tattoo, she would quietly ask us to cover it. And it was typically about the size of a quarter…or a bit bigger….wow have times changed. Now it is part of the bridal look……..take a look at this art:

How fun was that? The creativity on the bridal hair and make-up was interesting, and great to see that we are not all alike…..viva la difference!!

Meet the bride ..Kelly Hidelbrant, and meet the groom Kelly Hidelbrant!!! Yes it is true Read the story of how this happened.

It’s been a whirlwind romance for the guy and gal who share the same name, and it all started with an innocent Facebook message.

“She started off ‘Hey, I saw we have the same name,and I thought it was kind of cool, Just wanted to say hi I guess. LOL,’” the male Kelly said.

Kelly the female, from Coral Springs, was curious to see profiles of people with the same name when she happened across Kelly the male in Lubbock, Texas.

“I searched my own name and he’s the only one who came up and actually in the picture he didn’t have a shirt on and I was like oh he’s cute,” said the female Kelly.

Three weeks later, male kelly flew to South Florida to meet female Kelly, and they hit it off immediately.

And now in just three months, the Hildebrandts will officially be married.

“We get a couple of the same reactions, usually it’s like ‘whoa, that’s so awesome and totally different,’” said female Kelly, 20.

Male Kelly, 24, has moved down to Florida and plans on working at the new branch for his company, Primerica Financial. Female Kelly is finishing up her studies at Palm Beach Community College.

The wedding will be at Lighthouse Point Yacht Club in October, a quick turnaround — just eight months after the two first met – though male Kelly has no reservations.

“I felt like there was a good possibility that before I ever came out to meet her in person, that this could be the girl I’m gonna marry,” he said.

The marriage won’t be without problems. In fact, one problem has already presented itself before the two have even stepped foot on the altar.

“He’s even already got some mail coming in, and we have to open everything, because we don’t know whose mail is whose,” said female Kelly.

 And I always thought it was funny one of our Design Visage artists Georgia ,is married to George!!

Since I, like many others, am shoe crazy, I started a little wedding shoe book and today I am going to show a few to you. But don’t fear, everyday there is a wedding with a new pair of shoes to share. So I suppose this will be an ongoing shoe/show.

THEN: A SUNTAN WAS THE SIGN OF HEALTH AND STATUS

In the 1920′s Coco Chanel came back from a vacation with bronzed skin. Like fashion today, it caught on and symbolized that one was wealthy enough to afford a leisurely outdoor life…so the bronzed beauty began. By the 1930′s sunlight was said to be the cure of many ailments, such as acne and tuberculosis. This was the “baby oil” fase that continued through the 1980.  I can remember lathering up in oil to lye in the sun and I have very fair skin…o the sunburns.

NOW: a little sun kissed face can look glorious, although even the slightest tan represents injury to your skin, your bodies largest organ. When you think about it a tan is your skins way of creating a protective layer to diminish further damage. Put that way…not so pretty. The vitamin D you receive just driving your car or walking into your house from the car completes your quota. Today, thank goodness, it is all about sunscreen. Consider an airbrush tan….

THEN: ACID EYEWASH AND LASH TRIMS FOR SPARKLING EYES

An article in the legendary McCalls magazine recommended a daily eyewash of Boracic acid with a few drops of Camphor in hot water to keep your peepers glittering. Topped off with a monthly lash trim.

NOW: Use a saline solution for the occasional eye irritation and forgo the trimming for a lash supplement such as Revtilash. Yes it really works. Some do have to trim their lashes after a few months.

THEN: Sleep with a meat muslin mask for a young looking complexion. Place lean strips of beef over the entire face leaving a hole for eyes and nose. Secure with the muslin and leave on over night.

NOW: Although the concept is correct, there are less messy to give your skin a dose of moisture and protein. From yam facials to seaweed masks, you can keep your complexion looking lush with an esthetician or a Jar.

THEN: DARKEN YOUR LASHES WITH VASELINE AND COAL DUST.

NOW: Although still used in some rural areas, we now have the modern day mascara. The founder of Maybelline, T. L. Williams observed his sister with this Vaseline/coal routine. In 1912 he came out with a cake mascara and by the early 1950′s the tube mascaras were on the market.

THEN: THE THICKER THE CREAM THE BETTER THE HYDRATION. Women used to slather their faces with the thickest cream possible and sleep with them overnight.

NOW: More does not mean more hydration. In fact heavier creams can create a barrier on the face and actually lock out moisture leaving all the dead skin cells and creating a dryer skin texture. Serums and light weight creams created for your skin type will do the trick.
