The Viceroy, Wedding Hair and Make-up, Julie and Jon

It was a fantastic day at  The Viceroy in Santa Monica. Julie and Jon have a unique story. Julie and Jon met at a “How to Nurse your Baby” class in Santa Monica. They were both married to another and both very pregnant.  Both couples were expecting their first children and due just days apart. The couples bonded and , maintianing a close friendship for years through births of their children, birthdays, and holidays. Their children played together from birth.6413_118179199335_821089335_2186963_7168958_n

So how is it that Julie and Jon became a couple? Julie and her then husband moved away and in time divorced. She returned to Los Angeles and rekindled her friendship with Jon and his then wife.

Time passed and the familys lost touch.

In 2004, Jon ran into Julie’s brother in an office elevator. Jon who was then single, asked about Julia. And e-mail exchange and the two met at Joe’s Restaurant in Venice…..they have been together ever since.

The Viceroy has so many quaint locations for photos. It was the perfect choice for the tiny, elegant affair planned for June 25th. Julie is an interior designer and she and her stylist Joy transformed a poolside cabana The Viceroy style into, an enchanted forest.

The “organic elegance” theme was complete with 8 foot tall curly willow walls with sprouting from mounds of moss. Hundreds of Gardenias were woven into the branches along with sparkling rhinestonee wires. Sofas were covered in Linen, hand embroidered pillows topped off with cashmere throws. The floor was covered in silk and wool.

The entire wedding party consisted of their children. Julie’s son Ryder escorded her down the aisle. Julie chose a white gold silk  couture Donna Karan evening gown, along with a stunning pair of vintage 1940′s earrings.

Wedding Hairstyle:

* Julie went with a classic updo, very full with soft curls. The front was a side part and a simple swoop bang

Wedding Make-up

* Dramatic eyes were on the agenda that day. Smoky plum and grey created the perfecr backdrop for Julie’s eyes to shine.

* Soft rose lips and cheeks finished the look……and I do believe Julie looks smashing!

Wedding Hair:

* Laura’s hair was curled with a 1″ iron in medium size sections and pinned in curles all over Laura’s head. This is for staying power

* After her wedding make-up was applied, the curls were taken down and Lauren, Laura’s Design Visage artist ran her fingers through the hair to give it a soft and natural look

* Spray Spray Spray….we use a terrific spray by Alterna. Light, but efficient.

Wedding Make-up:

* Lauren used a mineral make-up foundation with an SPF of 15, no sunburn on the wedding day, followed by a loose mineral powder and rose blush

* Laura’s eye shadow were a pallet of brown, golds and a touch of rose. A waterproof chocolate liner, black mascara and a few individual lashes to create the eye.

* Lips were a deep natural lip liner covering the entire lip with a “sweetie” gloss on top. This kept Laura picture perfect, even after the “kiss”

Do You Know “Becker”?

Last week-end we got to work with our friend Becker. If you don’t know him…check out http://blog.thebecker.com. You will get some information and have a smile….he is unique. So Lindsey and Jonathan hired Becker to photograph the wedding on August 22. It was a fantastic Southern California wedding day at the Four Seasons Westlake Village. Let’s take a look:

Lindsey bridal hairstyle is very classic…..barrel curls with a lovely tiara. Michelle, Lindsey’s Design Visageartist created a beautiful pallet of natural shadows that bring out Lindsey’s incredible blue eyes. Wedding make-up is designed to bring out your best features….I think they scored here.

Pelican Hill/Wedding Hair and Make-Up/Victor Sizemore Photography

The new Pelican Hill venue did not disappoint. We waited a few years for it to open, and it is a beauty. Christine and …..chose Pelican Hill, along with a wonderful team of professionals: Kerrie Underhill of Platinum Weddings to coordinate, Victor Sizemore Photography, Elysium Productions for the movie, and yours truly Design Visage for the beauty.

Christine and her Design Visage artist Lauren decided on a very dramatic eye….since Christine is in the beauty business herself, she was not afraid of drama. so it was for the wedding make-up elegant and sexy.

I love technology, we are facebook freinds with all Christine’s vendors and Victor posted a shot even before Christine walked down the isle for all of us to see. Big change from the days…..and not so long ago, that it would take months….I mean months if ever to see our lovely brides photos.0043T_Moore

Christine looks soooo cute here

Peter Nivio Zarlenga,

Man finds Wedding Ring at the Bottom of Harbor

Did you see this story…..if not take a glance…..what are the odds? Or actually maybe it is yet another lesson in persistence. I hope you enjoy….

Aleki Taumoepeau earned the nickname “Lord of the Ring” after he successfully retrieved his wedding ring from the bottom of Wellington Harbour 16 months after he lost it.

The Niwa ecologist, from Hamilton, was checking the harbour for invasive plant species in March last year when the ring slipped from his finger.

At the time, he hastily threw an old anchor overboard to mark the spot and vowed to Rachel, his wife of three months, that he would find it.

“It flew off into the air and everyone on the boat was looking at it and said it was like a scene from Lord of the Rings in slow motion,” Mrs Taumoepeau told The Dominion Post.

A dive three months after the mishap failed to find the ring, but Mr Taumoepeau was back in the capital again recently for another attempt.

After an hour searching in three metres of water near the Hutt River mouth, Mr Taumoepeau found nothing.

“I was getting cold and tired so I said to God it would be really good to find the ring about now.”

He then spied the anchor, with the ring just centimetres away.

“I couldn’t believe that I could see the ring so perfectly.”

Design Visage salutes “The Lord of the Rings” for tenacity.

Optimism is the foundation of courage.
