Laurel Nicola a unique new idea

We were so excited when 2 friends came by today to introduce their new business. It is always refreshing to see the excitement in a new endeavor. Hayden and Sophia have begun the new Laurel Nicola event coordination. We have worked with both Hayden and Sophia for many of our bridal events. They both worked for Kevin Covey Parties. Now along with Kevin’s blessing they are beginning a new chapter. You might remember our blog a few months back regarding Sophia’s wedding. So what makes this new business unique? I was looking over their menu of services and  along with the actual coordination of weddings I was delighted to see some fun new options. As a bride your services includes a custom health and fitness plan, which includes a yoga lesson from Sofia who is a certified Yogi. Or for the A type bride a month long fitness camp..along with spin and yoga classes…..do you have to be a bride? Sounds like something I could use. Or perhaps you would like their healthy week by week meal plan, along with in home cooking classes. Or for the bride without self control or just busy, a weeks worth of yummy healthy food delivered to you.

Wow a new twist on helping you with your wedding plans……Design Visage wishes Sophia and Hayden the best of luck and we look forward to working with their thin, healthy and energetic brides.

Sophia and Hayden, hope to see your health conscience brides here at Design Visage for our “Slim Today” detox wrap…..lose 6 to 20 inches (that stays off) or your next wrap is free!

Don’t miss this hairstyle

A few years ago we had the pleasure of working with Aaron Delesie photography on this wedding. Sarah came in a few days prior to the wedding, and did not have any idea how she wanted to wear her hair. Now this was when this messy updo style had been seen only on the red carpet. Our artist felt that Sarah had the sophistication to appreciate such a trendy style. Well as you see Sarah LOVED her hair and from this photo we booked hundreds of weddings over the past few years. Other artists may try to copy us, but we are always a step ahead in style.

Sarah’s make-up was a combination of a warm crease with a cool lid, topped off with a full set of lashes. Very dramatic, although with the elegance of the gown, she looks quite natural. The hairstyle may look just thrown up, but actually is a very intricate style to look as if it is very loose and barely pined….yet this style will last the entire day and night. We take great pride in our seasoned abilities. Sarah was pleased to find the perfect hair jewel at Design Visage. It is a stunning piece created by Paris by Debra Moorland.

Previews Previews Previews

Happy Tuesday, this is the busiest day of the week for Design Visage, since we have been out in the field on the week-end…..so lots of phone conversation. Although I am very lucky, Michelle is the operations manager so chances are when you call you will speak with her. And if you already have I am sure you two had a laugh together…she is so fun!

Today I am going to show you the most important part of our services…the “preview”. This is the time you will spend a few hours with your artist getting it perfect. One of the best parts of working with a Design Visage professional is that you can say what you like, and what you do not like…it’s all about you. This is your wedding day and we are here to help you get what you want with our valuable recommendations. You won’t be disappointed. Let’s take a look at a few previews from last week.

This is Doris. Her big day is next week-end at the spectacular Crystal Cathedral. If you not seen this beautiful church…..take a trip to Garden Grove and take a look. Doris is a very pretty girl without make-up. We applied a few shades of browns on the lid with a dramatic liner (makes her eyes pop) lips and cheeks very natural dark rose tones. Her hair will be half up half down. This is great style on Doris. Although during the preview her artist noticed that in order for the style to stay all day, Doris will need to layer her hair a bit. This takes some of the weight and helps the staying power. No problem Design Visage scheduled a special cut with Heather to layer a bit. Great that you do not have to worry about that infamous too short haircut the week of your wedding. We work with brides everyday and know just the right amount. This photo is the inspiration used for Doris’ look.

Doris is taking advantage of our “borrow a veil” program. She chose a designer veil to take for a week….can’t beat that.

Now we have Kari. She is getting married at Casa Del Camino in Laguna Beach. This boutique hotel was built in 1927 as a retreat for Hollywood Stars. Kari wanted a modern take on a vintage look. This was the inspiration:

Dosen’t Kari look Old Hollywood Chic……we will be sure to post a picture of the actual day in the gown. Bye

Clissic, Vintage, Retro, 80’s…..O No

In the over 20 years we have been helping brides be beautiful, one of the most difficult decisions for the bride has always been ” how the heck should I wear my hair?”. How can you stay classic and timeless? Well I am not sure it is possible. Exactly what is classic and timeless. Have you ever looked at a picture from 10, 15, 20 years ago and not realized that the clothes, colors, make-up, and hairstyle are dated. I believe we now say vintage for what was classic in the 20s,30s,40s,. Let’s see the 50’s and 60’s retro and lets not even talk about the 80’s. This the decade when Design Visage pioneered the specialization of bridal beauty, and hopefully one day I can locate some of our first brides. The 80’s was all about big hair, big sleeves, big veils….purple eyeshadow and pink lips….and when I say purple and pink I mean it! Without a doubt the 80’s would not be considered timeless. So in short choose what you like for today. There is no time like now.

The important thing to consider is your hair, your dress, your personality, your wedding location. Being realistic is also a good idea. I have curly hair and like ALL curly hair girls ( well almost all) we always choose the pictures with shiny streight hairstyles. So as much as the stylist can create that look, how long will it last? Is your wedding by the sea, will it be hot, humid, rainy….these factors can all have a impact on your hairstyle. So my suggestion is to choose a style that compliments your type of hair….don’t fight it….go with it. A skilled stylist will be able to help you achieve the look of your dreams, with a style that will last 15 or more hours. Remember even though it is your red carpet moment you probable will not have a personal stylist with you all day…..and really do you want to waste time to continually redo the do?

The amazing thing is that your talented artist can add hair to styles that will help it last all day and give it that red carpet look. So bring in one of these pictures of one of you own and let the magic begin.

So whatever it is:

CHIC, REGAL, INNOCENT, STUNNING, POLISHED, SEDUCTIVE, RECKLESS, RAVISHING, SLEEK, MAJESTIC, BREATHTAKING, OR SMOKIN’…..

………we’ve got your style.

Renewing the Vows

Heika Mader came to the salon for her hair and make-up preview. She found Design Visage on the Ritz Carlton Dana Point referral list. She has been married for 5 years, but they never had a reception…..so to the Ritz it is!

This is the inspiration picture for Heike’s hairstyle. She had her eyebrows tinted prior to the preview by our Esthetitician Adreinne. This is a fantastic service for we light hair girls….wake up with eyebrows. The dress Heike will be wearing is a sleek gold gown, so she was looking for more of an evening look. Her artist did a simple french twist with her pretty blond hair. Make-up was a dramatic liner with shimmery gold lids and cheeks. Topped off with a natural lip tone lipstick and gloss…… look how it makes her beautiful blue eyes pop…….so sexy.

WOW dosen’t Heika look great. Here you will see the french twist adorned with a beautiful comb of gold, silver and pearl from our own Bridalmode. Can’t wait to see the event…..we will post the pictures.
